The journey beginns at the highest point of the Hintertuxer glacier.
The entrance hall, clad in mystical glacier blue, is the first stop of the tour. The variety of the turquoise-blue play of colors offers already a highlight for the eyes alone, because only shades of blue get reflected by the ice.

The highest farming museum in Austria lies 1.740 m above sea level at the Höllenstein mountain lodge. It depicts the hard mountain life Austrian alpine farmers and tree fellers had, by showing pictures and examples of tools that were used in older times (such as wooden ploughs, etc). Experience how cheese gets made in the Alps. At the Junsalm, at an elevation of 1984 m, with the Stoankasern-Cabin, you can watch how milk turns into butter and cheese daily from 7 to 11 a.m. Walking time: approx. 2 1/2 hours from Lanersbach. There is a shuttle service twice a week on Tuesdays and Wednesdays (only from June to October)!
A well proportioned chapel was built 1953 on the grounds of the former magnesite mines at the Schrofenalm (1.700 m), above Vorderlanersbach. This chapel is dedicated to the holy Barbara, the patron saint of the mineworkers, and shows a beautiful fresco by Max Weiler on the entrance wall.
The history of the Tux mill goes back to the year 1839 and has been renovated to capture mountain peasant history. In the earlier days, barley, which still thrives at our altitude, got planted. Barley flour got used to bake bread, as well as certain types of pastries (for example noodles, Austrian donuts, etc.).
Opened from 18th of June till 24th of September every Monday from 1.00 pm to 4.00 pm.
The "Mehlerhaus" was built in the 17th century, and has been restored by the District of Tux to create a cultural centre and a small museum. It is opened for public every Friday (mid of July until end of September) from 2.00 pm to 7.00 pm. It's the perfect way for guests to learn everything on the subjects of country, people, culture and rural work in Tux.
The Glacierbus3 is the most spectacular cable car in the Alps. The new terrace at the highest point of the ski area Hintertux Glacier (3250 m) reveals a view of mighty mountains that spread out in front of you. The breathtaking panorama extends from the Großglockner all the way to the Dolomites and to the Zugspitze! The cable cars operate daily from 8.15 am to 4.30 pm.
Behind the Spannagelhaus on the Hintertux glacier starts an adventure under the earth. The cave near the Spannagelhaus is unique. It has a length of 4.2 km and a maximum depth of 25 m. It is one of the most popular caves in Tyrol. The 300 million year old stones tell the story of the development of the glacier. Guided tours all year round with pre-registration.
The cross at the peak of the Ramsjoch Mountain (2.600 m) was put up during ceremony at the frequenter week in the year 2000. It was erected to honor the frequenters of Tux. You can reach the cross in about 1 ½ hours walking distance from the Eggalm over the Grübl peak.
Hintertux is surrounded by steep mountain sides and characterised by hard winters. It displays a variety of survival specialists. Many plants, animals, and humans have been living here for generations. Throughout the walk you will get to know the different factors which rule this steep world. At both starting points you will be informed about the topic of the walk. Length: approx. 1 kilometer from Hintertux to the car park in front of the glacier lift. (this walk is also suitable and accessible for strollers).
The Tux Waterfalls crash to the valley floor in a thundering frenzy. An impressive show by Mother Nature awaits you. Deep rock basins, natural stone bridges, caves and gorges fascinate visitors. At the bottom station of the cable car you can see the most bottom waterfall "Kesselfall". This sight was declared a natural preservation sight in 1964 and you will be impressed to know that the Tuxan water has drinking water quality. Feel free to freshen up with pure mountain water from any Tuxan tap!
